I was born and raised in North Carolina, but I've lived all over the US. After our first child was born, we moved back to NC. My father was a newspaper publisher and writer. I guess I inherited his genes there! My Mom, a medical student, turned to Lab Technology. I got my fascination with medicine from her. Together, that's what I love to write about in many different ways!
I first wanted to write a book when I was in third grade, and my dad brought home a really old typewriter. He set it on my little play desk and asked me what I would do with it. I told him I was going to write a book!
My dad was a newspaperman, and I inherited his desire to write. I always had my head in a book, so as an adult, I put that desire into my books.
Years later, I have written and published two books. I have another book, a sequel to my first book, that is complete, and I hope it will find its new home sometime in the next few months.
Why do I write? It's an escape from a world I cannot control. By writing, I find control in my characters, locations, events, and everything imaginable. It's also very addicting! I write what I enjoy reading. And I hope you will enjoy reading what I write. I'd love to hear about your experiences and thoughts on this!
Writing is personal. I write about things I do, know about, or have studied. Characters are based on observations of people in various situations. I find humor in all aspects of life, even in nature. This brings completeness to the process. Sadness and anger are also important to address via character actions and thoughts. Finally, writing is very healing for the writer; from emotional traumas to funny events, writing brings completeness to the writer and sometimes some much-needed closure.
